Easy Ways to Keep Your Smile White

Posted on 8/25/2015 by Jonathan Woodyard
A patients teeth before and after using a whitening treatment. We all want to keep our smiles white, but normal wear and tear can make it seem impossible. The good news is that there are simple ways to keep your teeth white without too much effort. In the event that you cannot keep them white, we can perform professional teeth whitening for you, but in the meantime, try these simple tricks:

•  Avoid over-the-counter teeth whitening products or at least often use of them. Many people use them regularly, which ends up ruining their teeth rather than whitening them.
•  Brush and floss your teeth regularly. The removal of bacteria and food debris will naturally keep your teeth whiter.
•  Drink plenty of water. When you cannot brush your teeth right away, water is the next best way to keep your teeth white. This helps to flush away food debris and keep your teeth healthy as well.
•  Limit your consumption of wine, berries, acidic foods, coffee, and soda.
•  Talk to us if you have to take an antibiotic for long periods of time as certain medications can stain teeth, but we can help you limit the damage.
•  Avoid smoking or drinking alcohol as they can both weaken your enamel and cause staining.

Basically having good oral hygiene and following a proper diet helps to keep your teeth white. If your teeth begin to discolor due to hormones, aging, or normal wear and tear, professional teeth whitening can be of assistance!
