What is Keeping You from Visiting the Dentist?

Posted on 5/10/2016 by Jonathan Woodyard
A woman suffering from severe dental anxiety covering her mouth. For many people, a trip to the dentist isn't high on their priority list, and it certainly isn't something that they look forward to. Unfortunately, regular dental visits are crucial for long-term dental health, and failing to go to the dentist could be putting your teeth in jeopardy. If you are one of these people, it is important to understand exactly what is holding you back from setting up your appointment.

Dental Anxiety

Dental anxiety is a common issue, and people can become anxious about their trip to the dentist for a variety of reasons. If it has been awhile since your last dental visit and you are worried about the state of your teeth, let your dental office know about your apprehension. They will take steps to keep you comfortable while explaining all of your options.

Guilt and Embarrassment
Your dentist has been telling you about how important it is to go in every six months, but suddenly, several years have passed. You aren't sure how the time slipped away, and now you are embarrassed about going back after so long.

Rest assured that your dentist isn't there to lecture or judge you for your dental health or the fact that you haven't been in for a while. The primary focus is on your dental needs and how to move forward.

With all of the things that you've got going on in your life, it can be hard to squeeze in a dentist appointment, but it is extremely important that you find a place for it in your schedule.

Many people find it helpful to schedule their next appointment before they leave the dentist's office. That way, you won't need to worry about remembering to call in at a later time and you can work your schedule around that date and time.
