Composite Dental Bonding
Over time, the appearance of our smile can change, and unfortunately, this isn’t always for the better. The lifestyle that we lead, and the food and drink that we consume, can all contribute towards the decline in the color and condition of our teeth. Staining and discoloration is very common, caused by things such as drinking coffee and red wine, and smoking. Meanwhile, despite the durability of the enamel of our teeth, little chips and indentations can occur as natural wear and tear. These visual imperfections may not be huge, but the way that they make us feel about our smile can be monumental. If you dislike your teeth, you may feel that it impacts on your ability to talk, smile and laugh around other people. You may smile with a closed mouth in photographs or cover your mouth with your hand when you eat. Some people are so self-conscious about their teeth that it holds them back professionally and socially.
Fortunately, there is no need to live with smile imperfections. There are many cosmetic treatments that can
transform the way that our teeth look, with one of the most popular being dental bonding.
What is Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding is a simple and straightforward cosmetic dental treatment that is designed to improve the esthetic appearance of teeth. This process, which is nearly always non-invasive, is carried out using a special tooth-colored resin that is pasted directly onto the front-facing enamel of your teeth, and then molded to cover the imperfections that are causing you concern. Once our cosmetic dentistry team are happy with the appearance of your teeth, the resin will be hardened using a special light, which bonds it permanently to your teeth, and then polished so that your new smile is shiny, attractive and ready to share with the world. In the vast majority of cases, there is no need to remove any of the natural enamel of teeth, meaning that the entire process is non-invasive and there is no need for any anesthetic.
Dental bonding is a successful treatment for correcting a variety of different cosmetic issues, such as:
Covering stains and discoloration
Hiding cracks, chips and indentations
Closing very small gaps between the teeth
Making short, undersized teeth taller so that they fit better with the rest of your smile
Adding thickness to teeth that seem too thin, or are set back from others in the arch
In addition to addressing any cosmetic issues that you might have, dental bonding also has the ability to strengthen the natural enamel of your teeth, providing greater protection against further damage or decay.
Step 1
Examination and diagnosis along with the full 3D scan of teeth
Step 2
Treatment consult with mock up will be implemented.
Step 3
Prep and placement of direct composite veneers.
Dental bonding is a very durable and long-lasting solution, and if your teeth receive proper care and attention, bonding could last for up to a decade. However, if any maintenance is needed, this can be done very simply and without needing to remove any existing bonding material. Instead, further resin is pasted onto the affected tooth to repair the existing bonding.
